Hollywood Hosts – A fundraiser for Peninsula Youth Theater

I’ve been invited to be one of five tabletop designers for Hollywood Hosts, a fund-raising event that benefits a fantastic non-profit, Peninsula Youth Theater. Each designer creates an unique tablescape as inspired by their favorite movie. With cascading chocolate waterfalls, everlasting gobstoppers and fizzy lifting drinks, Well Rehearsed will capture the incredible, edible world of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Today I am working on creating some signage for the event. (Yes, I felt like a little glitter is needed). Here’s a sneak peek:

Dream Bridal Tour-Jump on Board!

Wedding planner extraordinaire Kathryn Kalabokes of Dream A Little Dream Events is taking the show on the road and inviting brides to jump on board for the Dream Bridal Tour. Well Rehearsed is one of the many vendors who will be showcasing their services. More info on how to register is below.

The Dream Bridal Tour presented by Dream A Little Dream Events – San Francisco edition is hitting the streets once again on Sunday January 24th. This is set to be a fun filled wedding planning extravaganza! The day begins at the Dream A Little Dream Events Pacific Heights studio in San Francisco. From there, the group will be taken by cable car charters to a lavish champagne brunch at a posh SF hotel. After we are full and ready to take on the world, we will be visiting and meeting with over twelve other vendors in the wedding industry. You will learn about photography, invitations, spray tans, flowers, linens, beauty, cakes, bridesmaid gowns and much, much more. The best part of the day is when you get to take home your bag full of goodies and discounts from all of the participating handpicked vendors. The last tour’s bag was valued at over $3500 in discounts and gifts.

The premise of this tour was to bring the best that this city has to offer to brides that want to learn as much as they can about planning their wedding. This isn’t a bridal show, the vendors do not a pay a dime to be featured, they are simply great at what they do. Think of an intimate setting where you can ask all the questions you want to two of the top wedding planners in San Francisco, and walk away from the day with a new found knowledge on all the things you wanted to know, but had no idea who to ask!

My “word” for the new year…

Mary Mix, a colleague and friend of mine, shared this inspirational tradition she started that encourages us to stop and reflect on the year that has past and choose a word that will take us through the new year. In the spirit of being in the first week of 2010, I wanted to share it with you. Following is an explanation about the tradition and the Wordle above is a visual of some of the words that were selected by friends this year. My word is: Focus. I just love the simplicity of the exercise and it’s so easy to remember everyday! If you feel inclined, please share your word as a comment. -K.

How the tradition got started (from Mary):

At a dinner party over a decade ago, we were all lamenting the tradition of New Year’s Resolutions. We all had them, or attempted a list, but we never managed to fulfill them and it made us feel bad. So we scrapped the whole idea. Instead, we each came up with a single word that would set the tone for the year to come. It could be anything, it just had to inspire you. The idea is that this is YOUR word for the whole year – a singular rallying cry, intention, reminder, kick in the pants, inspiring thought…. use it however you like. Live it for the year. See how you feel.

Choosing your word:

Everyone has a different process. The idea is to keep it simple and choose something that is meaningful and personal.

Hello 2010!

Hello New Year! It seems like 2009 flew by and I can’t believe we are already in a new decade. This year I am excited to announce my blog! As I was disassembling my Christmas tree today, I thought the perfect first post would be to share a special ornament that made it on my tree. My wonderful husband has started a tradition that every year he gives me a Christmas ornament that represents a major “happening” of the past year. As always, he again blew me away with his creativity and skill. He hand crafted the placesetting graphic that I use as part of my brand identity as a tribute to Well Rehearsed in 2009. Can you see the mini fork tines? Yes, he carved them!! The ornament is about 4 1/2″ x 2″ and made of yellow heart wood. It’s amazing. Just like him.

Here’s to a fabulous year ahead! I look forward to sharing more about myself, tips on throwing great events and fun ideas that will make them truly unforgettable. -K.
