I’m so excited to share one of my most favorite rehearsal dinners that was featured on Martha Stewart’s Wedding Website today. What makes this event so special? First, I was able to help a dear colleague and friend (Kathryn Kalabokes of Dream A Little Dream Events) plan her rehearsal dinner, and second was because it was SO PERFECTLY “them.”

I love what I do because I’m able to help couples bring to life their love story in a different way than what will be showcased at the wedding. In a nutshell, Joe & Kathryn love each other… and they love the San Francisco Giants. Their story started at the stadium, their romance grew over the years while watching games and their engagement commenced on the field. So the rehearsal dinner “angle” was pretty easy to figure out. But my biggest challenge was how to make the event shine and be the perfect kick-off to the fantastic wedding Kathryn was planning the next night. It started with the invitation….

Yes, you are seeing “foam fingers.” Exactly like the ones that fans wave at baseball games. Guests had the foam finger invitations arrive in large black envelopes. Surprise! Thanks to Canary Marketing for bringing the invites to life.

The venue, Tres San Francisco was another perfect fit as it was just blocks away from AT&T Park and a spot that Kathryn and Joe frequented before the games. They have a fantastic event space that allowed for a causal gathering where the guests sipped margaritas and ate delicious bits from the taco carts.

Of course we had to add some small touches so all the centerpieces were designed in Giants orange and black. Baseballs, peanuts, Cracker Jacks, home bases, pennants and the couple’s season tickets were all decor accessories. And to tie into the mexican restaurant theme, we strung orange papel picados (mexican paper banners) along with photo banners of Kathryn & Joe from their Giants games.

Of course, what’s a rehearsal dinner without a groom’s cake (a fav of mine!). Gabrielle withCake Coquette re-created AT&T Park and showcased the three highlight areas for Kathryn & Joe: 24 Restaurant (where they met), their season ticket seats in the bleachers and of course the proposal on the field!

In good fun there were toasts and roasts to the happy couple. Both the father-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom filled the room with love and laughter.

Kathryn & Joe – I love you guys! Thank you for trusting me to create your rehearsal dinner! Congratulations!

The event was captured by the talented Joel Flory of Flory Photo.

I am so excited to announce a new collaboration for 2012! Well Rehearsed is teaming up with Kathryn Kalabokes and her team at Dream A Little Dream Events to offer a comprehensive wedding planning experience for brides and grooms (and their families).

So what does this mean? In the simplest terms, by combining the efforts of our two planning companies we want to create the ultimate, complete wedding planning experience for our clients. “Brides and grooms expectations are evolving to view the wedding as not just a reception, but an entire weekend to share with their guests,” says Kathryn.

Our approach is to work with each couple to plan their celebration in its entirety from welcome party and rehearsal dinner, to wedding to day-after brunch. So often we experience that the rehearsal dinner becomes a last minute afterthought but in reality it’s the perfect way for the couple to spend more quality time with their guests. And now the complete planning can take place in one spot at the Dream A Little Dream Design Studio in Pacific Heights!

As a couple, taking on planning the night before your wedding and events after the big day, can be entirely overwhelming. Our team is your team in creating that perfect weekend. So whether these events fall on your plate, or perhaps the groom’s family needs a helping hand, we have it covered.

For more information regarding this new collaboration or to schedule your consultation for a comprehensive package, Email us today!

Hello! I know I’ve been MIA for some time. But as I will share with you, for good reason. I am excited to formally announce a new product from Well Rehearsed. These are our Streets of San Francisco Centerpieces which are one-of-a-kind centerpieces that have been designed to tell a story about a particular landmark or part of the city.

So how did I come up with this? I have been involved with so many events where clients ask me to “create something San Francisco.” So, I thought the best way would be to build unique centerpieces, scaled to fit on a dining table that represented our amazing city.

Currently there are a collection of seven of San Francisco’s most classic icons/landmarks available: Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Cable Cars, Chinatown, Painted Ladies, San Francisco Giants and Sourdough Bread. But I’m not stopping here. I have two new centerpieces in the works… so stay tuned!

So how can you get one for your event? Give me a call or email me. I quote all rentals per event and want to understand your details to make sure everything is a perfect fit. And we can also talk about adding special touches such as invitations, escort cards, menus, linens and rentals to bring it all together.

I’ve added a few photos to give you a sneak peek and to see the whole collection and detailed shots of each centerpiece, visit our Collection page on our website.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

-K.

Each event that I design focuses on creating an experience for the guests. I love telling a story about the person being celebrated through the beauty and fun of the event! This baby shower was no different! The mama-to-be loved margaritas and guess what? Her due date was May 5th – Cinco De Mayo. So a fiesta baby shower it is!

The “theme” was easy. Now the inspiration for the decor. I sourced some adorable burro pinata invitations that had the papel picados (mexican paper banners) and it became the backbone for the party. We hung rows of papel picados, used baby burro pinatas as table decor and stuffed a full-sized burro pinata with baby “necessities” and had mom smash it open. (Un-blindfolded of course — no need for any injuries).

We served a Mexican brunch with individual chicken enchiladas and a festive banana cake decorated with papel picados. One of the favorite gifts was the diaper cake. I still have not seen a cuter version! Guests departed with a baby succulent plant in a terra cotta pot. Gracias!

As a bride, shopping for your wedding gown can be nerve-wracking as you decide on the perfect one. But it’s always exciting! And whether it’s mermaid, v-neck or strapless, one thing is usually certain… your gown will be white (or a shade of white).

So what about mom? Not only does she have to find the perfect fit, but the perfect color as well! Whether it’s the mother-of-the-bride or mother-of-the-groom, all the ladies walking down the aisle want to look their very best for this event.

I’m excited to share this contest from Ming Wang for a MOM MAKEOVER before your wedding day.

The grand prize winner receives: a Ming Wang bridal season wardrobe and day of beauty, which includes FOUR full looks meant to clothe the mother for all important wedding events including: engagement party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner and the wedding, and a gift card to a local salon for a morning-of the wedding day of beauty. How fantastic is that??!!

There are also two runner-up winners will each receive a Ming Wang dress. AND there will be a little bonus from Well Rehearsed to help plan the rehearsal dinner.

Mom – the dress search is over! Just enter the contest on the Ming Wang Facebook page with a 100-word description on why your mom (or the groom’s mom) deserves to win. You can apply up until Feb. 7th and the winners will be announced Feb. 10th. And make sure to mention you heard about the contest from the Well Rehearsed blog!

The winners will be selected both from public vote and votes from wedding blogger judges (guess what – we are one of them!)

Good Luck!

What happens at the rehearsal dinner? What should I expect?

-Molly, Bride-to-be (San Francisco 2011)

First and foremost, the rehearsal dinner is a meal. But what really makes it a unique dinner is that your nearest and dearest friends and family are coming together to wish you well as you begin your married lives together. It’s the kick-off to your wedding and sets the tone for your celebration! The most notable traditional of rehearsal dinners are the toasts (and roasts) from your friends and family. As the father-of-the-bride, best man and maid-of-honor are slated for wedding day toasts, the rehearsal dinner “opens the mic” to other friends and family. This more intimate gathering is the perfect place to toast the couple and share heartfelt stories and well wishes.
